Color School Bio:
11/18/21

Jingle Jangle hippy rockers with an inner-city slam. There is no better way to describe the brilliant sound of veteran musicians Color School. Initially emerging out of Washington DC’s 80s punk scene and its vibrant Go-Go heritage, they have constantly evolved their sound to produce melodic and pop influenced rock with more than a bit of bite.

Rather than be mired in the molasses of mediocrity that can be stagnating quicksand for many bands, Color School were determined to paint a new future for themselves and instill a sense of purpose within their music. Bringing in rapper Renell has achieved that and so much more. Already established as an artist with a tight lyrical flow underpinned by that DC Hip Hop attitude, Color School are now letting their freak flag fly.

Mixing 70s funky rhythm guitars with McEwan’s poetic rhymes, the band weaves in addictive vocal hooks and a groove that is undeniably infectious. Their last release ‘One City One Love’ clearly indicates that as a band, they are at the top of their game, and there is no clearer demonstration of this than when they perform live on the stage. Playing regionally in DC, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York, they bring the house down wherever there is a dance floor.

Their groove is like a calling card to the original Hip Hop pioneers who blended old school funk with rappers who honored that tradition. Their refreshing approach to create music that is skillfully crafted with superbly arranged live musicians is beyond the scope of ordinary artists. The multi-generational band are greater than the sum of all their parts and give each other the space to explore the complete range of their influences.

The jam experience is in full effect and Color Band’s catalogue is set to grow as they begin to release new material in the not-too-distant future. As the world wakes up from its enforced slumber, be prepared to be woke in more ways than one as they are just getting started. Whether it be on stage or from the recording studio, live the dream of Color School and discover what a difference they will make to your lives.
